Our shop was named after my lovable daughter Audrey... She is my number one fan when it comes to Simply Audrey and I love that I have a daughter to share our interests in fashion... She is always so proud to tell everyone how the shop is named after her and wishes that the shop will start carrying a kids line so that she can be our model... Perhaps in the future... =)

A little late, but Happy New Year everyone!

Since having kids, our new year's eve has been pretty mellow at home... Watching the countdown Eastern time so the kids can get to bed. The husband and I always try to stay up so that we can celebrate on our own, but most of the time end up passing out with the kids. That is exactly what we did this year too. ;)

We did do something different though... On the New Years day morning we got up at 5:30am to head out to a local beach to watch the sunrise to celebrate. We weren't sure if we were going to be able to see an actual "sunrise" since we are in the West coast but headed out anyways. It was a pretty foggy morning so we didn't see the sunrise but ended up walking on the pier and having our first breakfast of the year 2012 on the pier overlooking the water... It was good time, we promised we would make it a tradition... The princess even promised to come when she is married... We'll see about that. ;)

2011 was pretty crazy but full of blessings with all the changes in my life, my little princess entering 1st grade, little guy entering preschool, the husband switching jobs and the launch of my shop Simply Audrey to name a few... I am so thankful to my creator and saviour for His continuous love and blessings. I am so thankful for my family and everything I got to experience in year 2011, good or bad... I have learned a lot and matured from all my experiences and I am excited for what the Lord has in stored for me this year... With that said, I wish everyone a happy and healthy new year full of love and happiness!

On a different note, this blog was started out as a fashion blog linked to our shop with majority of it's content being shop news and etc... After much thoughts and encouragements from friends and family I decided create a section for "What I wore" to document and style items from the shop. After all, a lot of items in my closet are from the shop anyways. Although I am definitely NOT the typical model type (standing "tall" at 5' 1") haha, but I do LOVE dressing up and try my best to create styles to best suit and compliment me myself and I without over doing it... I love the last two glittery effects... You don't need to purchase 5 different ombre shades to do this. All you need is a bold color and a white to mix and create ombre shades shown in this tutorial!

Seems like "fall" has finally hit California. We were still enjoying the high 80's up until yesterday. Actually, everyone I spoke to lately are getting tired of the hot weather and can't wait for the cooler weather... Today was that day. Rained in the morning so wearing a lightweight sweater with a scarf was perfect! The afternoon was still sunny and sort of warm, but the morning was so welcomed by many here in California!

Here, Anh from 9to5chic blog wears our "honeycomb" sweater in olive. Don't you just love the way she put the outfit together?

Beatrice quoted in Rock n Roll Bride, “Barbie & Ken were married at Faraway Castle, in Plasticity. The bride bought her dress from The Fairy Godmother shop and her shoes from the Cinderella Store. The groom wore a suit from The Prince Charming Emporium. The couple met more than 50 years ago (yes I know they look young). Barbie was tired of waiting so she asked Ken to get married.” LOVE IT!!

Just came back from a fun filled weekend in Vegas with the family. Everyone asks, "You took your little ones to Vegas?" The answer is "Yes!" Our kids LOVE it in Vegas. They get to swim, share the same bed with mom and dad, eat buffets, bling blings and cha chings everywhere, what's not to like about Vegas EVEN when you are 6 and 2? =) We had a great time...

Camera strap cover

Ever since I saw these cute and stylish camera strap covers all over the internet, I have been wanting to make one for myself. As a crafter, DIY tutorials are always fun and therapeutic... I have been so busy with the shop which means I didn't have any time to craft and it was about time that I got my crafty itch. So this weekend I finally got to making one and I am so glad I did because not only does it add personality to my camera its comfortable! (I added some felt padding to the middle inside part) No more harsh strap cutting into the back of your neck! This is the tutorial I followed. It was super easy, took me about 45 minutes and it turned out perfect! I am loving the new look! You like?

While I was searching for camera straps covers, I found another savvy camera strap worn by this well known "oh so cute" fashion blogger...

Have you noticed out new home page image? Yup, our photo shoot with the talented Mia from Mia Marissa photography is ready to view~! It was a very sweet summer afternoon with lots of lazy afternoon sun and plenty of cool breeze to keep us once again, in love with sweet summer 2011...

Our model for this shoot was Hanna. She did an amazing job considering she has never modeled before but we were all so proud of this sweet young lady who did an awesome job!

Mia did a beautiful job capturing the sunlight in these photos. Absolutely love them. Such serenity.

With full force summer weather hitting us, I thought that a post for healthy drink ideas would be a helpful topic... Everyone knows that you need to drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday. Everyone also knows that that is pretty hard unless you are one of those health freaks. (don't be offended. i wish i was more like one of those freaks!) =)

So here are some healthy drink ideas!

1)Start your day off right with a glass of water as soon as you wake up. Develop a routine and begin your day well-hydrated. It helps flush out your system and you'll feel good about starting your day right.

2) have a veggie juice. It is so refreshing and packed with vitamins, enzymes, minerals and fiber not to mention delicious. A fresh pressed veggie is a great option or mix with fruit juice for extra sweetness with natural sugars.

3) Be a good "trier." Try the unexpected drinks. For example, coconut water and aloe vera juice might sound weird, but they are quite delicious and hydrating.

4) Spiff up your water. Iced herbal teas have a pleasant taste and are very refreshing without caffeine. Also try going spa-style by adding a slices of cucumber, orange, lemon with some mint.

5) Eat the right fruits. What is the number one fruit you think of in the summer? That's right, watermelons. Watermelons are the perfect snack. Cooling and sweet and guess what! 92% water! Strawberries also contain 92% water with grapefruit at 91% and cantaloupe at 90%.

6) Make a smoothie. Throw is whatever fruit you have in the fridge and blend with some milk or yogurt for vitamin packed drink! My personal drink for breakfast on the go with the kiddos. Throw in some riped bananas, some frozen strawberries, (buy a box, eat some and freeze some) some soy milk and blend.

Stay cool and healthy by keeping your body hydrated this summer!

Elle Fanning is following her sister's footsteps behind the camera as the new rising star. This 7th grader was on the spread of the newest issue of Marie Claire Magazine. The weather is getting warmer SO, what can you do with your scarves? Summer scarves are light weight and perfect for a bit of coverage or instant chic to your outfit. There are many ways to wear your summer scarves.

Here are some favorites...

Keep it loose and low for a menswear tie look.

Fold in half diagonally and tie in the back with points in the front.

For larger square scarves, fold in half diagonally and tie the front loosely for a mini capelet look.

Cover up a loose sheer shirt by looping a scarf in a similar color around your neck.

Last but not least, the campfire style. Twist your scarf into a rope and loop around your neck.

In case you didn't know, Simply Audrey was named after my beautiful and sassy daughter Audrey who celebrated her 6th birthday this past weekend... Horay for 6! Doesn't it seem like a dream to be 6 again? Of course that means you'll have to go to school everyday, go to bed at 8:30 pm, eat all your veggies, do what you are told by mom and dad, and live through jr. high and high school... Tip #1. Stay casual on top. These maxi skirts are already an overload so opt for a casual top without a

whole lot of embellishment. You can wear them with a loose fit tank or a cropped sweatshirt for a balanced look.

Tip #2. Be creative. Because these skirts are long, you can pretty much turn anything in your closet into a

top by just tucking them in. You can turn a tank dress, a tunic or even a bathing suit into a top.

Tip #3. If you are on the tall side, longer the better. Hem can skim the ground but be careful - they get
dirty REAL fast. If you are on the shorter side, it looks best two to eight inches above ankles. Wear
